Works from JR’s Horizontal exhibition at Perrotin Gallery, NY. JR is an artist whose work gets the attention from people who typically don’t go to museums. Finding a camera on a Paris metro in 2001 led to a prolific career showcasing photographs of everyday people, some from the ‘lowest rungs of society’. Their larger than life images forces you to see beyond preconceived notions and see their dignity and humanity. They are no longer invisible. JR does not explain his art but leaves it up to the viewer to interpret what they are seeing, the work is always about raising questions.
