The Monogram Penthouse

What makes a penthouse a Penthouse? Exquisite design of course, from the building’s exterior to its interior. Starting with the building itself, Monogram New York, a residence by Anthology Group, is located at 135 East 47th Street in Manhattan. Ismael Leyva Architects draws on the timeless glamour of classic New York, reinterpreting it through a distinctly modern lens. Inside, acclaimed studio Neri&Hu extends that vision with interiors shaped by a refined, functional sensibility, layering in nature‑infused details that gives the interiors a gentle, organic aesthetic that makes the space feel welcoming. In the Monogram Penthouse, premier design studio frenchCALIFORNIA—led by Founder and Creative Director Guillaume Coutheillas—crafts an immersive landscape of light, sound, art, and meticulous craftsmanship. The residence channels the quiet indulgence of a boutique luxury spa, where refined contemporary lines and warm, tactile materials shape an elevated atmosphere. Throughout, Mr. Coutheillas deftly intertwines the building’s architectural language with his own globally informed sensibility, creating a timeless yet distinctly modern environment.

Penthouse Sanctuary In The Sky

FrenchCALIFORNIA crafts a sensory landscape of limestone, oak, linen, and wool in the Penthouse. Sculptural furnishings and integrated Bang & Olufsen sound objects transform audio into spatial materials. The curated art collection is from Onishi Gallery and Creative Art Partners, featuring David Stanley Hewett’s gold-leaf painting and ceramic vessels by Ohi Toshio Chozaemon XI among others. With the collection of art pieces, sound and furnishings, Mr. Coutheillas builds a tranquil environment for modern living: “From the moment I first walked into the penthouse, I knew the design had to honor its calm, its height, and its extraordinary views, the water, the Chrysler Building, the horizon itself. The architecture already spoke in such pure rhythm that my role was to compose around it: to let light. texture, and art breathe. Every piece from the paintings to the sound of music flowing through the space — was chosen to create urban serenity, a kind of suspended stillness above the city.”
