Overcast skies, drizzle, then showers could not stop the 2023 edition of the Dance Parade. Participants were dancing in the rain along 6th Avenue in New York City dressed in enough colors to counteract the gloomy day. This multi-cultural event highlights not only dance and music but also the creativity and style of the various costumes by the revelers which never disappoints each year. The parade’s theme this year was “Beyond the Zone,” which acknowledges the campaign to reform antiquated Zoning laws related to dance, restricting it to only a small number of venues licensed to allow dancing.
