English painter Anthony Hunter’s latest works at JoAnme Artman Gallery in New York were created to express fun and freedom after being an artist assistant for three years or Damien Hirst. The structured and repetitive works done during those years has opening the doors for bold and expressive abstract paintings in his own distinct style.
“I feel compelled to make paintings, when I approach a blank board or canvas I have no idea what will happen which excites me. I make my paintings quickly and try to make it an enjoyable experience. I will pour the paint, I will scrape the paint, and I will attack it with a twelve-inch brush. When nothing in the painting bothers me and I think I can live with it, I will stop”. Anthony Hunter
